One Thing I Did This Week

I am joining my sweet daughter, Brianna, in her weekly Meme over at By the Way. The idea is to post one picture of your favorite event for this past week and write a little bit about it.This is my first time doing it because I usually do Not Me on Monday. Which my kids love and they would be disappointed if I didn’t’ do it. Brianna’s blog is private so if you’d like to play along leave me a comment and I’ll have her send you an invitation. She has some fun things happening over at her blog for the younger crowd so even if you don’t want to join in, your kids might want to check it out.

One thing I did this weekend was take the weekend off. This is our first weekend of leisure since our trip to St. Kitts in April. My dear husband surprised me with a little getaway. We stayed at a beautiful four star hotel in Philadelphia, which is practically our second home, due to his business travel. Saturday night he took me to do the same thing we did way back when on one of our very first and most memorable dates. How romantic is that?

I will give you a few hints. To my kids…you know who you are…no fair saying it in the comments. And to those who might be tempted to cheat…no fair asking my kids.

Before that date way back then, I received a bouquet of yellow roses. On the card was written, “Don’t go changing to try to please me…I want you just the way you are.”

On our wedding day when we pledged to love each other forever the band he gave me was inscribed with the words “2000 Years”.

It was very hot Saturday night.

We were surrounded by thousands of other people.

It involved the National Anthem.

And a lot of traffic.

That’s probably too many hints already. So you are on your own now. Let it suffice to say that I had a fabulous weekend and only missed the kids a little. And my heart pitter pattered as much as it did on that date back in our youth. No, make that more. For I love my good husband in a way that I was not capable of back then.

It was worth all those weekends of sitting around watching as he laid pavers.

To my daughters (I know you are reading this)…and you know what I am going to say already…You should be so blessed one day.

  1. Kat,

I love how simply romantic your hubby was with the card on the roses and the inscription on your wedding band. I had to wipe away a tear after reading that!

I am a hopeless, helpless and also hopeful romantic and a big sap when it comes to sentimental moments like that as well as movies.

    Love and Hugs ~ Kat

  2. Awww, what a sweet and thoughtful hubs. Did you go to a baseball game?

  3. Hmmm...I'm guessing, baseball?

  4. I am glad you had a great time! Baseball does seem obvious, but I am going to go with a Billy Joel concert because of the song. If I am right, I am totally jealous!!!

  5. I posted a One Thing I Did Last Week.

  6. Kat,

Please stop by my blog today for something very special for you.

    Love and Hugs ~ Kat

  7. I guess a baseball game too! I would love an invite to your daughter's blog and will participate in her meme. So are you going to post the picture when you tell us where you went?

  8. Hello Chili Pepper,
It's nice to meet you! Thank you for entering and your kind B-day wishes. I really appreciate it.

    Have a blessed day.
    ~Warmly, Melissa :)

  9. I Know, I KNow, I KNOW!!! But I won't tell ;D. It is not a baseball game though for all of you who guessed baseball, althoug it was in a baseball stadium. Mom and Pa aren't big baseball fans.

  10. I am a Cardinals fan though.

  11. I'm going with a concert and what an amazing hubs you have!

  12. I love this line: "For I love my good husband in a way that I was not capable of back then." It's so true for me too.
Just stopping by from Heart 2 Heart. Love your blog!

  13. Hey Girly, sounds like a wonderful time and yes, they should be so blessed!!!

I tagged you in my post today. Get busy!

  14. I thought for sure it must be a baseball game by the hints, but now I see Brianna say that it's not... hmmm... I don't have any other ideas. :) Glad y'all got away. Sounds like you had a great time.
