Bringing the Autumn Home

Outdoors the vines are dying, the colors are changing and the air is crisp. For us, vacation is over and autumn will now officially begin.

Which happens to coincide with the start of our school semester.

It is time to bring some of God's beautiful color indoors to enjoy. Here are some marigolds that thrived in my garden despite the dry weather in my absence.

The colors of fall are so warm. I like to spread them through out my house to set the stage for coziness. Like tea towels in the kitchen.

I couldn't decide. Which do you like better? Apples or stripes.

And a little rug to keep those toes warm while I brew the coffee in the morning.

And autumn themed table setting and center piece.

I burn candles steadily through the darker and colder months for the wonderful scents but also for the warm feeling their glow provides.

I can hardly wait to pull out my crock pot and start serving some of those comfort foods that find their way to our table now that the whether is better suited to cooking.

  1. How warm and cozy it all looks! I love the striped towels. You did a great job on the table decorating, too.

I haven't tried the artisan bread yet, but I will. I'm a novice at bread baking which is why I haven't tried my hand at it yet. I bake zucchini bread and banana bread all the time, just not the other kinds.

You will be very proud. I plugged the sewing machine in a pieced together two huge quilt blocks. I'll be blogging about it. I'm with you on preferring hand piecing and quilting, though. There is something about that method that makes it more authentic in my opinion. It's just really nice to be able to produce something a little faster especially if I want to give it as a gift. It is not going to be easy to part with such time-consuming projects.

  2. I just wanted to leap through the computer and enjoy a warm cup of cider with you. I just knew I smelled some....or maybe that was your wonderful candles.

I love the striped towels. You really make your home look warm and inviting...and I am sure everyone who enters feels it.

    Hope you are doing well.

    Blessings, andrea

  3. Kat,

I love all the apples! I would stick with those over the stripes! Just all your cozy fall decorations! Freshly baked bread on the oven! Yum pass the butter and set me another place.

  6. Good afternoon, Kat~

I just LOVED your post. Autumn is my FAVORITE time of the year. The colors, the smells, the chilly, sweater-weather is just PERFECT! I agree with Andrea, I wanted to jump through my screen into your kitchen as well! LOL

I never stop using my crockpot. It is a year-round fixture in our house. It is WONDERFUL!

I really love your Autumn tablescape. I do the same thing with the candles. The fall scents are my favs. I have apple candles burning whenever possible.

As for your kitchen towels, I like them both, but the striped ones just add a little bit of extra color.

Thank you for sharing Autumn in your home with us!

  9. Welcome back!!!

I love the stripes better than the apples, but man! Your home looks so beautiful!

And it looks like you are a MUCH MORE ORGANIZED homeschooler than I ever was. I guess I just wasn't cut out for it. My heart was there, but my mind just wasn't.

Glad you made it back safely!

  10. Yes! We had an unusually cool weekend and I fired up the old crockpot this morning, but just as my red beans and sausage really began smelling good, the heat and humidity returned! Oh well, it is fall somewhere in the country!

  12. Hi Kat,
I love the Fall look of your blog!

The apples tea towels are lovely...and so are all the warm decors you have placed around your home.

Feels so welcoming...I could just walk in through your door and know I'd feel at home!

Been out for a while, and now I'm back to visiting my friends' blogs.

May God's favor surround you today.

    Love
