Not Me Monday 10-19-09

Because it is a lot of trouble to empty and set up the pool and a great strain on our well to refill it in the spring, we have always opted to leave it up through the winter. It actually was run over one year during a heavy snow, when a truck came to deliver firewood. This year Allen decided to drain it in order to try to extend its life. Besides, with the pool down, the concrete pad will be a great place for the youngers to ride their bikes on warmer days through the fall and spring.

After school the other morning we went outside for a stretch and since the weather was so nice we decided to go ahead and drain it. Kaitlin and I had trouble getting the hose hooked up to the drain so we just pulled the plug a small bit to prevent a deluge that would wash into my flour beds.

It was NOT long before the boys were drawn to the puddle growing around the pool. And NOT even another minute before they asked if they could float their boats in the water. I told them as long as they do NOT get wet it was fine by me.

As any good mother would do, I said, "NO," when they asked if they could put their swimsuits on. In a few more minutes Samuel said the water was NOT deep enough. I certainly did NOT tell the boys that if we opened the filter pump the water would come out faster.

NOR did I tell them to NOT mention this to their Granny and Nana because the grandmas would NOT understand. When Aedan got the idea to remove the hose from the filter intake valve so they could make a water fall, you do NOT think that I would actually do it?

It was an ingenious idea. Do you NOT agree with me?

Do NOT worry. I told them to wear their galoshes so that their feet would NOT get wet.

After all, it is NOT my fault if they do NOT believe what the grandmas say about getting sick if you get wet in the cold weather.

I did NOT laugh until my stomach hurt when Samuel said, "Look, Mama, my galoshes are raining!"
NOR did I find it terribly amusing when he did this.

Is my fault that I could NOT say NO to Elisabeth when she asked me to take her shoes off so she could splash with the boys?

I could NOT resist the urge to get one more hour of fun out of the pool before winter set in. And, come to think of it, it was NOT that cold after all.

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

  3. It looked like perfect weather for draining your pool, and like you said...enjoy one last pleasure. What's NOT to like about a chore when you can make it fun?

  4. What a good use of water! I think you are a genius! And don't tell the grandmas, but.... you get sick from germs, not getting wet or cold! Ok, you can tell them, if it helps!

My kids would love to have so much water to play in. Especially the baby. He loves to splash in water!
