Team Spirit

Friday night the rain stopped and the air turned warmer (a balmy 57) which made it a perfect night to cheer on our local team. This was a particularly special game to attend because Allen's alma mater was playing my old high school team. Who happened to go to championships last year to earn the title as #2 in the state. We invited some friends to join us.

Elisabeth sat on my lap and was intrigued by all the sights and sounds. She was a bit intimidated by the racket when the fans got excited and would throw her arms around my neck and bury her face in my shoulder. When she got more confident with the noise, she sat beside me and spent an entire quarter trying to drink from a water bottle without spilling it all over herself. When that got boring she made friends with the ladies in front of us. A Vera Bradley billfold in the pocket of one of the ladies caught her attention and she tried to snitch it away. Fortunately, the lady thought it was cute that Elisabeth is so into Vera Bradley. I will go on record to say, she didn't get that habit from me.

The other kids enjoyed the game up close and personal as well as the nachos and french fries.

This is Tom, my dad's best buddy, with Nathaniel. Tom and Than go back a long way, as they attended Linganore Lancer games together last season.

At the end of the game my Lancers still held their undefeated ranking... and I don't think it was any coincidence that after the National Anthem, I saw one of the star players kneel by the sidelines to pray.

And here is some of the gang before we left. What a good time we had putting on our school colors for a time. Left to right is of course, your's truly, Elisabeth, Allen, Katrina, Terry and my dad.

We celebrated by heading to a local diner that makes the best cheesecake in town. Over some pumpkin cheesecake, hot cocoa and coffee we laughed and swapped stories until midnight.

The girls liked the blueberry cheesecake.

But the boys preferred the ice cream sundae.
Even two orders of french fries and a bag of chips couldn't keep Elisabeth going. By the time we reached home she was zonked out.

  1. LOL, that bottom photo is ADORABLE!! It looks like such a fun night of energy and fellowship. :)

  2. What a fun night. Cheesecake sounds yummy. I see you in a lot of pictures too:)

  3. It sounds and looks like you all had a terrific time. I have a penchant for Vera Bradley stuff, too. Elisabeth has good taste.

Staying up until midnight eating yummy cheesecake with hot chocolate or a sundae is something they will never forget. What great memories you made.
