Not Me Monday 01-18-10

Do you remember Elisabeth's Happy day?

She has NOT carried it around since her birthday on December 13th. At night she does NOT tie it to her bureau drawer NOR is it the first thing she asks for when she wakes up each morning. She did NOT melt into a pool of tears when it went flat on Thursday. We did NOT try to blow more air into it after she went to bed. When that failed I did NOT ask Allen to stop on his way home on Friday and buy a new one just like it. I would NEVER try to deceive my child that way. I did NOT cut the balloon from the string and put it away in her drawer because I could NOT stand the thought of throwing it away. NO ONE gets sentimental about a balloon. (And while we are at it, I do NOT have six other balloons tucked away in memory boxes from when the other kids were little.) When Elisabeth woke up from her nap Friday afternoon I did NOT give the new balloon to her and say, "Look, Ellie, Pa fixed your happy day!" I did NOT almost break into tears at the joy in her little face as she giggled and grabbed the string. I did NOT hope she would NOT noticed that the string and weight on the end were pink instead of blue like the first one. Elisabeth did NOT find the old balloon hidden NOT so well in her drawer a few minutes later. She did NOT ask for her happy day as soon as she woke up Saturday morning. I am NOT thinking Disney princess balloons will be beautiful for pew decorations when my little princess marries her true love.

Do NOT forget to stop by 365 Ways...

  1. I can't believe she is still carrying it around...wait...yes I can! My kids did the same thing. There is something little ones love about balloons.
