Brianna's Baptism

"And they said unto him, We can. And Jesus said unto them, Ye shall indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall ye be baptized:"  Mark 10:39
Brianna has been wanting to join our church in Baptism for quite some time.  She came forward and asked the church last fall.  The only catch is, we have a very small building with no room for a Baptistry.  The plan was to wait for the spring when we opened our pool and then make it a home event with a little water and a little something on the BBQ.  Then our Pastor thought a Baptism would be a great picture for an Easter service.  We couldn't agree more.

The only problem?  Our church still didn't have a vessel to perform a Baptism in.  We've used a lot of venues over the years.  Going to other churches, an inflatable pool, a creek and even a feed trough on the back of a pick up.  Each one memorable, indeed.  This seemed like a good time to come up with a more permanent solution, however.  With a week's notice great minds began to brainstorm.  We came up with some unusual ideas but the one Brother Dave found on the internet seemed like the best one, indeed.  So Saturday morning, Allen and the boys joined a couple of men from the church and they built this.

It doesn't look like much yet, but wait until you see the finished product!  Filling was a bit of  a project in itself, since the water tank at church is only 60 gallons or so.  They added what they could on Saturday.  At 5:30 am on Sunday morning, Brother Dave made his way to the church to fill it with warm water.  And then prior to the service he added a third installment of hot water to be sure Brianna would not freeze to death.

All week we prayed for a nice day with some warm weather on Sunday morning.  Amongst storms and cold air it didn't look likely.  But the Lord hears our prayers.  Sunday was not only warm but also full of sunshine.
So here she is before.

And in her swim suit ready to go.
Pastor passing time while waiting for Brianna.  While everyone was wondering what was taking so long, we were trying to get the keys to the office so she could change.
Eagerly awaiting the moment we've prayed for since she was a baby.
Pastor giving instructions.  Don't stick your arms up or we have to start again.
I  can only imagine Brianna thinking of how much she hates a hundred people standing around staring at her in her bathing suit!
"I Baptize you my sister, in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost."
And she makes it!
When Brother Gary threatened to toss Samuel in, Sam thought it was a grand idea.  Just in case, Mr. Ozmer decided against it.
What a beautiful way to celebrate the resurrection of our savior!  A glorious day, indeed.  Amen!
