Happy 6th Birthday, Samuel!

June 11th was our little man's 6th birthday.  His celebration turned into a multi day event for the whole family. It started Friday night with the camp out at Chick-fil-A.

Pa and the boys surprised him with a  few streamers and balloons to wake up with Saturday morning.
The girls had a little surprise ambush of water balloons waiting for him when he returned Saturday morning.
And just in case that wasn't enough, a second wave was waiting for him inside with good old fashioned balloons, Wachter style.
A few weeks before his birthday, Samuel asked if we could go to a cave some time, just like Jonathan Park.  It just so happens there is a cave not far from us so Brianna arranged for a visit on his birthday.
Samuel asked if his buddy, and fellow Jonathan Park Adventure fan, could go along.  We were all excited that their whole family agreed to make the trip with us.
And so we made our way through a cave 40 feet below the ground.  Which was a new experience for most of us.  It was the perfect place to go for an outing on a hot summer day, since it was only 50ish degrees inside the cave.
Afterwards, we took a picnic to a nearby state park.
After they ate, the girls took the kids on one of the hiking trails for a little adventure through the woods.
Where they encountered a snake.  I am so glad I decided to stay behind at the picnic pavilion to visit with my friend.
When we headed home it was straight to the pool to cool off.  Samuel was delighted with is new funky goggles from Brianna.
A cook out by the pool for dinner was perfect for a hot and slow summer Saturday.
No one was very hungry for cake so Samuel opted to just have the strawberry ice cream we'd made for dessert and save the cake for another time.
Sunday was a very busy day, but Pa let Samuel choose dinner after our evening service.  Chinese was the order of the night.
Monday Pa and Mama took him for his birthday date...
at a local pizza place.  The weather was beautiful and we were able to sit outdoors.
In fact, by the end of dinner, it was getting quite cool, so Samuel borrowed my jacket.
At long last, Tuesday night, we pulled out this amazingly cool, Jonathan Park cake Kaitlin and Brianna had made.
And gave Sammy his gifts and sang a proper Happy Birthday.
Happy Birthday, little man!

  1. Happy Birthday to Samuel! Gorgeous pics!!!

  2. Happy Birthday, Samuel! Looks like you had lots of fun. Even though I'm 20 years old, I still enjoy the Jonathan Park series, too. :) My (and my siblings) favorite episode is Mystery at McBane Manor.
