In Faithfulness, He Afflicted Me

In Faithfulness, He Afflicted Me

One of the things I love about summer is countless hours by the pool to indulge in one of my favorite past times... reading.  Throughout the year, I accumulate a stack of books beside my bed, that I hope to get to one day.

Shortly after my miscarriage last year, a lovely lady named Lynette Kraft, visited my blog and wrote me an email full of encouragement.  I mentioned it to the family and Brianna said, "Oh, I know who that is. I read her daughter's blog."  She then went on to tell a little bit about this amazing women and her family, the trials the Lord has blessed them with and their victorious rise from the ashes and devastation they have faced as they  watched three of their children die through completely unrelated and non genetic anomalies.

After a visit to her blog, I was completely floored by her strength.  For Mother's Day, Brianna gave me a copy of her book, which details their story and includes entries from her personal journal throughout their years of trial and triumph.

This was the first book I picked up from my someday pile and I was not disappointed.  At first, I must admit, I was hesitant to read it because I was afraid of facing the tears that I knew would come.  But instead of tears, I felt encouraged, uplifted, and ready to face the next trial the Lord sends my way.

It was quite comical, as I was reading, and marking up the book (I love to do that!) I was thinking how alike we are in our opinions.  It was hard to read much at one time, because every time I went to read, someone else was reading my book.  Anyway, as my daughters were reading different parts, they would  say, "This sounds just like Mom."

I have often faced criticism when opening my heart and sharing from my past as a way to reach out to others.  Therefor I know the amazing step of faith this woman took in putting it all on the line in an effort to use her experiences for His kingdom.  Yet, she even faces the criticism with a grace and positive attitude that can only come from the Lord.

This book is for anyone who wants to be challenged to grow stronger in their walk with the Lord but especially for mothers and even more so for those who have faced the heartache of losing a child.  Take time for this read during your summer break.  You will not be disappointed!

Here's what Amazon has to say about it.

"In Faithfulness, He Afflicted Me offers a unique look at a story of suffering. You will experience Lynnette's raw emotions through journal entries, yet you will be encouraged as you witness God's miraculous power of healing in her life. You may even find yourself excited to face your next trial, seeing it as an opportunity to experience, as Lynnette has, the fullness of God. Lynnette is a mother of nine children but has been called to endure the great sorrow of watching three of them die. She has suffered, but she has been victorious through the loving help of her Savior. Her heart's desire is to offer hope to others along their road of heartache. Lynnette delights in spending the days with her husband of twenty years and their six children. She enjoys prayer walks, country drives, napping outside on a beautiful day, and listening to film score and classical music. She also values sincere friendships, good chats over coffee, and raising children to love and serve Jesus. www.growingthroughaffliction.com"

  1. Sounds like a good read. Now I want to get my hands on it as I too am a parent of three children whom are with the Lord. During our first pregnancy we lost twin daughters 20-weeks along while living in Germany through the military. Thankfully their custom was to take pictures and we now have pictures to remember them by through the years. Jessica and Shelby are their names and they would be 14 yrs. old this year. Our other miscarriage happened so quickly that we weren't able to know if it was a boy or a girl, but we are comforted to know one day we will find out in Heaven. The Lord gives and the Lord takes away. Thank you for this post and for the encouragement. Wishing you and your family a wonderful Fourth of July holiday!! Blessings to you- Amy
