Last Thursday, It's Cold, Butter and Courageous

Well, friends, family and blog readers keep reminding me that I have been pathetic about posting.  Allen told me I have not written a real post in a long time and one of my daughters accused me of limiting her reading material by not writing anything.  Not for lack of want, nor for lack of material, mind you.  My head is constantly spinning with things I want to post about.  No, it is quite simply that age old problem of not enough hours in the day.

The kids have a goal of getting 7 weeks of lessons done in four weeks time before we leave for our trip in November.  We have all been hard at work.  I had three weeks of classes to make up, plus current classes to keep up with and I am attempting to get ahead in studying and homework before we leave town.  Believe it or not, we will be hot and heavy in the middle of finals when we return just in time for Thanksgiving.  Wow!  Where did this year go?

And speaking of the holidays.   They are in the air.  The kids have been practicing for the Christmas cantata since we returned from vacation.  I guess that is what started it.  Now our house is filled with the sound of Christmas music and the smell of pumpkin and cinnamon.  The illusion that we are ahead of ourselves a bit, has been increased by the fact that we get back just a few days before Thanksgiving so we are making plans and writing menus for one of my very favorite holidays of all.

And in the meantime, there are hearts to reach, people to minister to, and souls that need to hear.  Yes, we have been busy!

I did put this post together for my mom post last week and somehow never published it.  Go figure.  So here it is a week late.  Hopefully, sometime in the near future, I will get this weeks up... maybe?

This first picture is with Carmella on the night we returned from vacation.  It was shockingly cold and not surprisingly raining.  Our house was frigid and she was very unhappy.  I bundled her up and snuggled her for an hour or so until we got it warm enough for the princess.  Autumn seems so cruel for a darling born on a day when it was 105 degrees!

Oh, I forgot about this one.  This was me, dressed as a mourner for Jelly Bean's funeral.  I was trying to look like Emma, who is the official mourner.  She pulls the look off much better, especially because I couldn't stop laughing at the whole idea of praying over a fish, no matter how much I liked her.
And this is with Elisabeth and my long time friend, Katrina, at Joshua's Hands fall festival on October 8th.  We had a wonderful time catching up with our friends.  Where as summer is our slow time, it is their super busy time so we rarely see each other from June to August.  It is always refreshing to get back to fall and the sweet fellowship of these dear ones.
Oh, and here we are making butter.  We have both done this before and we both make our own butter at home.  But it was fun to do anyway.  Now that I look at this picture, that top Kat has on looks an awful lot like one of my favorites.  Funny I didn't notice that before.
This was on our date night last week.  We went with Terry and Katrina to see Courageous in celebration of Terry's birthday.  Yes, it was fabulous!  The girls asked me if I liked it better than Fireproof.  I am not sure about that.  But I did like it a lot.  We laughed, we cried and we sat on the edge if our seats.  It was a blessing to see the theater packed.  It is such a blessing to have a movie promoting the Word and Christian values do well.  I hope that Sherwood continues to have success.

Anyway, after the movie we noticed this lovely Autumn display in front of the theater.  I told Terry and Katrina to let me take their picture and then they asked to take ours.
So there you have it.  Lots of Autumn fun going on around here and I've got the pictures to prove it.  What about you?

  3. Beautiful pictures, Carmella looks sweet! I am smiling at your mourning over a fish- we have quite a few fish too and it is amazing how much one can care about even 'just' a fish!
I can't wait to see Courageous as well- although with a new little one we'll have to wait until it is on DVD :o)
