Are You Sick of Being Sick and Tired?

I was texting with a friend today who is recovering from an illness and really is in for the fight.  I was sharing with her about the benefits of juicing.  In my little world, I thought everyone knew about how incredible fresh juicing is for overall health.  It is far superior to just about any other treatment you can name for dealing with acute or chronic illness, too.  Because it gets back to the root of the problem.

God made our bodies in amazing ways.  But we abuse them almost from the get go.  And then we wonder why they don't work so well anymore.  We begin suffering from all sorts of this and that and we are told it is simply because we are getting old and that it is normal.  Then the doctor writes us a prescription and we hand over a hundred dollars.

I am here to tell you, it is not NORMAL!  It may be typical but it is not normal.  It is not what the Lord had in mind.  He intended for our bodies to serve us well, so that we could serve Him well.  How many people are put out of service prematurely because we feed our bodies junk and processed foods, deprive it of the sleep and the nutrients it needs and then try to compensate by plying ourselves with drugs and more chemicals.

Oh, my friend.  There is a better way!  Many years ago, we sought it out and after much research were blessed with a champion juicer and were amazed at the changes in our health.  I was eventually able to go off all daily asthma inhalers, the kids stopped getting the constant stream of colds and stomach bugs that plaque most families and we all had more energy and overall improved health.

Not that we never get sick.  Especially now that we are way more careless with our health than we were back then.  But compared to what we see around us, our family is healthy.  In fact, when I take one of the little ones for a check up, our doctors and nurses complain that they never see us very much and the doctor comments on how we just don't seem to get sick like most families.

I could seriously talk on this topic for days and hours.  But, I haven't the time today.  But I do want to get this post up for Laura to check out.

I saw this video a few months ago.  It is an excellent introduction into the world of juicing and the benefits it can have on your health.  I want to caution that this is a secular video.   I kind of remember a few bleeped out words but our children watched it with us and we were not concerned.

"Health is a gift, disease is something we earn."  Dr. Joel Robbins.

For more information on juicing, I highly recommend visiting Dr. Joel Robbins website, Health Freedom Resources.  I found his teaching to be an invaluable resource.  We have not used any of the supplements or detox products on this site.  Actually, this site didn't exist back then.  I say that to point out that I know nothing about those products and I am not endorsing them.

What we did do was change our diet, which was already considered very good compared to the standard American diet.

We started our day with freshly extracted carrot juice.  An hour later we would have a second glass.  We ate nothing but raw fruit until lunch time.  At lunch we would have a nice large salad or a sandwich made of fresh vegetables and fresh baked whole wheat bread.  In the afternoon I would usually make some fresh fruit juice.  In the late afternoon we had another glass of fresh carrot juice, if we were at home.  For dinner it was steamed, baked, sauteed, grilled veggies with a baked potato, beans or whole grain bread.  The only added fat we consumed was olive oil.  There are few dinners more satisfying than a hot loaf of bread with some good olive oil to dip it in.

We ate no meat, dairy, salt, sugar, white flour or processed foods at all.  And we felt fabulous.  And energetic.  And healthy.  Even my hubby, who loves to complain about it, will tell you how great he felt when he stuck to that diet.

There are lots of videos on YouTube featuring Dr. Robbins.  I have not reviewed any of them except this one.  It is a good introduction.

Another resource that I found helpful was the cookbook, From the Kitchen of Two Sisters.  This is not just a cookbook, although it is a fabulous cookbook (you wouldn't believe what mine looks like from all the years of use), but the sisters have compiled an excellent introduction as to why we want to change our diet, not to have a longer life, but to have a better quality of life.  I notice they have quite an extensive website that may be a good source of information for someone wishing to make changes to improve their health.

When I started on this journey, the WWW didn't exist.  Most of my research came in the way of books and old cassette tapes.  I say that to tell you, I have just skimmed over these web resources.  I have not read them in depth.  In fact, today I spent just about five minutes perusing YouTube for Dr. Robbins videos and only googled to see that the Sisters indeed have a website where their cookbook is available now.  (Can you believe I bought my copy mail order?)   That means, I am not giving a blanket endorsement for any of these websites and I would be glad to hear feedback from those of you who do check them out.

As always, I would be glad to answer questions that may arise as you start researching.  And I would really like to hear feedback from those of you who decide to make some changes.

Praying each of you will be moved to a better level of health that will enable you to serve Him better.

Hugs,

Kat

  1. My friend's husband has arthritis that flares up really bad in his hands. Medicine wasn't helping. He started juicing and got so much relief from it. When he eats poorly, he's in much pain a day or two later.

    1. Hi, Lisa.

There is really nothing I haven't seen improved through juicing and eating more raw fruits and veggies. We even have a friend who has cancer and opted to forgo standard treatment. He has had no increase in the cancer growth in more than 15 years. We have another friend whose wife had brain cancer and went to Mexico for alternative treatment, after using traditional treatments and having a relapse. Anyway, they used the same treatment, juicing and cleansing, and she is cancer free now for a number of years.

The world really doesn't seem to get how much what we eat affects our quality of life. It is sad that so many people suffer so needlessly.

  2. Good morning, Kat~

I tried to watch the video, and after fiddling with my computer and trying to figure out why I couldn't hear anything, I remembered.....My Skippy Man never hooked up the speakers! BAHAHAHA! Luckily, I only sat here about 10 minutes before I figured that out! :> )

I will definitely take a look when he gets them hooked up. Thank you for sharing this......I look forward to watching it!

    Blessings, sweet friend~

    1. Hi, Laura.

Laughing with you. The speakers in my computer blink out sometimes... some sort of software issue. I use my earbuds from my iPod and it works great.
