Happy First Birthday Winnie Girl

How a year can go so fast amazes me more as each one passes.  But it is true.  Here we are one year has passed already and our sweet Carmella Joie has just celebrated her first birthday.  As hard as it is to imagine a year has gone by, it is even harder to imagine a time when this precious child was not part of our family.  She brings pure unadulterated joy to us each minute of the day.  No matter how big her laugh is or how big her smile is there never seems to be enough of her to go around.

A quick recap of how she has grown in the last twelve months.

This precious girl has been such a blessing to our family.  She makes us laugh and smile and ooh and ahh.  She is so mellow and yet so passionate.  As I was flipping through a year's worth of pictures I think of how unbelievable it is she has made it to a year old and what she has put up with in the name of love.  And yet, she goes right on smiling.

We celebrated her birthday with lady bugs.

She could not have cared less what the day was but she was thrilled by the decorations!

Aunt Dawn even came from Ohio to join in the celebration.
Gifts were simple.  What does the youngest of eight children really need?  I found this set of silverware when I was shopping for a baby shower in June.
And I also picked up these memory boxes... one for her first tooth and one for a curl of her sweet hair.
And one last tidbit was her very own suitcase for vacation.
Emma treated her to a new swim hat
And can you guess what is in that beautiful package from Aedan?

Kaitlin found these window clings which she is just crazy about

It is wonderful to think of all the ways she has grown and all she has mastered in the last year.  She loves birds.  In fact bird was her first word.  She will crawl to the birds' cage and stare up longingly until we pick her up to see them.

She is mastering sign language and communicates quite well with various signs in addition to speaking many words.  We love to hear her say "Ciao".

She has such a delightful temperament and is content to come or go or just sit and watch the many happenings around our world.

She has developed a sensitivity to new people but we are working on that and hope she will quickly leave it behind.

After a year you might think the novelty has worn off but still each morning begins with the question, "Can I get Winnie up?"  7 times over.  The day ends with seven sets of arms begging to hold her just for a minute.

She loves the pool.  She loves her bath.  She loves her blocks and her doll.  We are so grateful to the LORD for entrusting her to us and we ask for much wisdom to raise her for His glory.

Happy Birthday precious one!

My birthday wish for you comes from Proverbs 7:2 "Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye."
