John 21:18

The verse for our family devotions yesterday was John 21:18

"Verily, verily, I say unto thee, when thou wast young, thou girdest thyself, and walkedst whither thou wouldest:  but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou wouldest not."

The Lord has plans for us.  He wants to lead us.  If we don't gird ourselves up and follow Him, he will do the job for us, as we saw in Jonah's case.  Many times the Lord's perfect will leads us to a place we never would have chosen ourselves.  But, when we are willing participants we will find many blessings there.

I never would have chosen Down Syndrome.  But we believe it is God's will.  And because we let Him gird us and carry us,"...whither thou wouldest not..." we got to experience the incredible blessing of watching Henry try to sit up on his own today.  Life is good when you let the Lord lead it.

  1. Amen, sister! The Lord has GREAT plans for us, and He has great plans for Addison! God knew what he was doing when He gave your family the gift of Addison... down syndrome has always been a special need I have been open to as we walk our adoption journey, and I know that if I were one day blessed with a little one who has down syndrome, we would be so blessed to have that little one. The Lord definitely has stretched us in ways that we would never have imagined we could be stretched! Hugs!

  2. Hello there!!! So sorry I haven't been in touch lately!! We have wedding plans going on and some other business things that have been keeping me very busy.. and away from blogging.
    What a beautiful post!!!
God is soooo amazing. Yes, He does take us to places both physically and spiritually that we may never thought to go or would want to go by our choice.. but being the faithful wonderful God He is.. He prepares us and provides new mercies and blessings every day.
Blessings to you and your family!

  3. Way to go Addison!! Look at him sit! Sending lots of love!
